Supported DolphinRights Petition Strategy


At this Inflection Point in the history of Animal Rights, DolphinRights is using petitions as way of everyday protest until enough critical mass is created to stop Dolphin massacre.
DolphinRights is not using the Internet Petitions in classical sense and most of the time is used as a means of increasing public awareness and currently supporting Animal Rights petitions from different individuals and groups.
The idea of Petition is to facilitate grassroots movement, using independent petition to give a high level of integrity to the process of DolphinRights.
More petitions create a unity of vision among million of Dolphin Rights activists scattered around the world who can not communicate with each other.
- DolphinRights is also using Petition as documenting the Crimes Against Animals.
- Increasing public awareness.
- DolphinRights provides a comment section for additional information or enhancing the petition by others. You should not expect to agree 100% to sign Internet petition, prefect world or concept does not exist.
- DolphinRights believes that in a world with many powerful organizations, both private and governmental, responsible forms of collective grassroots expression are more important than ever before.
- DolphinRights believes the Internet can facilitate this kind of participatory democracy.
- The DolphinRights petitions are very demanding to push politicians to deliver small part of what activists are asking. It is not Activists job to make our demand practical.

To: The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Elected Free World Leaders, Representative, and Human Rights Activists

We are outraged by the annual brutal slaughter of dolphins and whales that takes place in Japan and in the Faroe Islands Denmark. The images of bloody red water clearly show the world that Japan and Faroe Islands Denmark have little respect for the state of the world’s oceans and Dolphin rights to exist.

We demand that Japan and Denmark permanently and immediately renounce and stop dolphins slaughter. Please watch documentary video clips.[1]

How many dolphins do you think it is reasonable to kill in order to catch the Tuna fish?
In the past 30 years, 6,000,000 dolphins have been killed by "fishing on dolphins". [2]

The research, conducted at the Duke University Marine Laboratory (US) and the University of St. Andrews in Scotland (UK) estimate that approximately 308,000 dolphins, whales, and porpoises killed in fishing gear annually. [3]

When the total of 152 dolphins (79 in September and 73 in October 2007) were washed up on Iran's Persian Gulf, Jask coast “mass suicide” was blamed by officials news agency. Asking UN actions to stop severe oil pollution which poses serious threat to Persian Gulf ecosystem and corals, reported by BBC [1]. The precise cause of Persian Gulf dolphins’ tragedy by oil pollution or Navy Sonar has not been established yet and UN investigation is expected and required. [4]

If we knew the realities behind our choices, would take a step back and reconsider … Due to lack of comprehensive Unified International Mother Earth clean water act (ocean, sea, lakes, rivers, streams, wetlands, and ponds), we are asking our elected representative and UN to co-sponsor an important 360 degree clean water protection bill to stop over fishing and pollution, to clean Persian Gulf from oil pollution, to regulate harmful Navy Sonar systems, to establish international monitoring programs with the stringent "zero discharge" of pollutants into the mother earth’s waters, and integrated international community enforcement of water quality standards agreement.

We are also reminded by Albert Einstein, “The world is a dangerous place not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing.”

We have learned from the Epic of Kings masterpiece by Ferdowsi (935-1020) the world famous great Persian poet: "Crush not even the tiny ant that beareth a grain of corn, for she hath life, and sweet life is a boon."

Now as a first step for the Real Global Change please sign, support, and distribute this petition to increase public awareness and global actions to promote Dolphin Rights to the same level of Human Rights. Due to the complexity of this major global problem domain, our active participation, and global dialogue is required and if you have a new innovating solution, brilliant idea, actions or recommendations please consider to share it with public in the comments section of this petition.

Dear Prime Minister Abe,


We are outraged by the annual brutal slaughter of dolphins and whales that takes place in Japan . The images of bloody red water clearly show the world that Japan has little respect for the state of the world’s oceans and for the conservation of the marine resources it claims to support.

Many scientific studies show that the oceans are in decline. We must take whatever actions are necessary to stop their over-exploitation and to protect the creatures that live in them. These dolphins do not belong to Japan . The status of the species of dolphins and whales that you kill are either endangered, threatened, or unknown. It is an unthinkable waste that they will likely end up as a meat product or deceptively sold as whale meat, polluted with toxic levels of mercury and cadmium, killing people that eat it. It is tragic and unacceptable that the remaining dolphins that are not killed will end up destined for death in an aquarium, water park, or "swim with dolphins" program.

In addition, the methods used to kill these animals are cruel.

Corralling the dolphins into bays, then making them suffer a long and painful death by spears, hooks, and drowning is an inhumane way of fishing. This action is disgraceful and has caused much disappointment in the international community.

We demand that Japan permanently and immediately renounce and stop this slaughter. We will work diligently to bring this issue to international light until you have ceased your reprehensible violence.

From 1963 through 1999, the Japanese Government allowed the fishermen of Japan to slaughter 668,393 dolphins. Some were taken for meat while others were killed as mere 'incidental' catch in the process of capturing live dolphins for displays in marine parks and aquariums. Public pressure and the documenting of the slaughters virtually stopped the slaughters for several years, however, with the growing popularity of swimming with captive dolphins and displaying dolphins in marine park settings the capturing and killing of dolphins in Japan is once again on the rise.

The Japanese government issued permits for the taking of 21,775 dolphins in the year 2000. The capture and killing of Japanese dolphins will begin again in a few months. History has proven that the government of Japan is sensitive to international pressure. There is apparently now a movement in Japan instigated by the government to continue the killings and captures but to do so at sea away from public view rather than driving the dolphin on shore as has been done in the past.

Please lend your voice to the worldwide effort to stop this holocaust against the dolphins by signing here. This petition will be delivered to the Japanese government before the 2001 killing season begins. We must show the government that people around the world are watching and that our protests will not cease until the slaughters and captures are permanently banned.
